New Jersey man sentenced to 7 years for armed casino robbery

Late last week, a Camden man was sentenced to seven years in state prison for the 2009 robbery of a patron of an Atlantic City casino.

The 27-year-old man was convicted April 25 of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and robbery by force after he and an accomplice, a 23-year-old Camden man, allegedly accosted a woman early the morning of Aug. 4, 2009, in the parking lot of Bally’s Park Place Casino. They caused her physical harm and took her purse, briefcase and cell phone.

The two men were arrested after police pulled them over and found two ski masks, two imitation firearms and “various other pieces of evidence” inside their vehicle. The ski masks bore traces of the suspects’ DNA.

The two men were tried together in September 2012. The 23-year-old co-defendant was found guilty of first-degree armed robbery. He was also convicted of several counts of witness tampering, since he threatened witnesses during the investigation.

As you can tell from this story, allegations of violent crime are something authorities do not take lightly.
